Best laid plans...

Last workout went well.  Increased weights by 20% and exceeded target reps.  But it's hard getting to the gym when there are so many other calls on my time.  It's important to make this a priority and ensure it happens.  Today when I was so sure I would have plenty of time to fit it in, I spent three hours this afternoon re-writing a piece for another website to meet a deadline that I'd forgotten about.  But the finished piece is far better than my draft.  If only I could have written it while at the gym...

New job is going well too.  Getting into the flow of it now, and it's not quite so hard going.  Which is just as well, seeing as I'm moonlighting!

Will be helping out FoH (Front of House) with my favourite community theatre group again this Saturday night.  Don't know yet if they want me to look after the Box Office (which means I can leave once the play has started) or the Bar (which means staying until everyone else has gone).  But it's all in a good cause.

Today's the day!

This afternoon I did my second workout, bench and leg presses.  Benches went well, 10 reps x 25kgs, but had trouble finding a leg press machine that was a good fit for me and wound up having a very ordinary couple of sets instead of working to failure as per the regime.  Feels like I've had a moderate workout but I guess that's something.  Weight has increased by 800grams in 4 days and I can't believe that's all muscle from Friday's workout.  Must stop eating things that aren't part of the diet programme (like the extra roast potatoes and pumpkin at dinner last night and the bread, cheese, wine and chocolates at a theatre opening night on Saturday, about which, more below).

Yesterday was a busy day: went into the country with some friends who want to buy a B&B.  spent all day with the owners of two that are for sale not too far from Brisbane, looking things over and asking questions.  Unfortunately they were both underperforming financially and not quite what my friends want in terms of presentation, amenities and so on but by the time we looked at both, and then discussed the pros and cons, I didn't get home till nearly 11pm.  And missed my last meal of a 5 egg omelette as I was too tired, but I hope to make up for it today.

On Saturday night I went to the opening of a play at a local community theatre company that I know quite well.  Their productions are usually staged well, with great costuming, set and lighting design, but the acting tends to be inconsistent although competent.  Usually a few outstanding actors and a lot of supporting players who are trying hard but not quite getting there, but the strength of the leads and the good choices of plays makes for an enjoyable night despite some obvious weaknesses.  They lived up to expectations this time.  Wonderfully melodramatic performances from the actors portraying the evil king and queen, one of the minor leads was a young man who will go far, and the rest were adequate but capable of so much more!

Eating update

Saturday night.  um, well, 1.30 Sunday  morning actually.  And I've just finished my last protein shake for Saturday so now I can get to bed.  Wound up eating a bit more than the diet: at a friend's house was offered roast lamb and salad for lunch and didn't want to be rude and refuse their hospitality so ate it, and still finished my 700 grams of steak (cooked in one go and then eaten in instalments as the day progressed).

Am down to my last egg.  Will have that in a shake for breakfast and then need to go buy some more.

Also had two cups of coffee with honey at that same friend's place and half a glass of wine and a glass of port and a couple of small chocolate bars during interval at the theatre tonight.  So probably around 4-500 calories over the diet today, and that all goes to fat.

Welcome to My Blog

I've finally done it.  I'm blogging.  Didn't think I ever would but now I have something to say so here it is.

This blog will have different pages on the things that interest me most.  Starting with Bodybuilding and Investing and Reiki and the things I read and what I watch and a few links to other things that interest me and we'll see where it goes from there.

By way of background I grew up in Australia and now live in Brisbane, Queensland.  I have also lived in the UK, the US and the Middle East.

As to the title of my blog: Wondiferous, a word derived from Wonder and Splendiforous.  Nick isn't the name I'm known by; rather, it refers to the day I was born in a rather roundabout way that I might explain when we get there (hint: December 6th).

I don't know how often I'll add entries but I hope you enjoy coming back here from time to time to see what I'm up to and add your own comments.
