Reiki

I've been a Reiki practitioner since Feb 2000.  It's become one of the constants in my life, mainly for its role in helping me stay physically healthy but also for its spiritual teachings (although it's not a religion).

If you know nothing about Reiki a good overview can be found here.  That site also gives links to more detailed websites.

The Five Precepts of Reiki, which committed practitioners normally recite daily, provide a simple and positive framework for our lives:

Just for today, do not worry.
Just for today, do not anger.
Just for today, be filled with gratitude.
Just for today, work on yourself honestly.
Just for today, be kind to all.

Just for Today: take one day at a time.  We only have the present moment.

Be filled with gratitude: I think of this like the English saying, to count one's blessings.

Work honestly: people take this one in different ways, but the one which makes most sense to me is doing one's spiritual work honestly, not fooling yourself as to your progress, intentions, etc.

Be kind to all: including yourself!

I have a few books on Reiki and give treatments to a few close friends from time to time.  I've had some interesting experiences which have helped me to see the power of this practice.
